Armed men rob employees at Cliff Bell's after hours

Robbers strike early Sunday morning after Detroit bar had closed for night

DETROIT – Three armed men robbed Cliff Bell's employees and the bar early Sunday morning after the place had closed down for the night.

An employee was putting out the trash about 4 a.m. when he was approached by the men, who were armed with guns.

They forced the employee back into Cliff Bell's at gunpoint, assaulted him and robbed him along with others who were inside.

The thieves made off with $3,000 from the bar and a white, four-door 2005 Chrysler Pacifica with Michigan license plate DBN-0415. They fled the area in that vehicle.

They are described as three black men. One is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds. Another is 6 feet 1 inch tall and 180 pounds. The third is 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. All three were dressed in black with black ski masks.

The bar is located in the 2000 block of Park. It has been popular destination for jazz acts and enthusiasts since it opened about 4 years ago.
