Arsonist targets abandoned homes on Detroit's west side

Additional firefighters called in to help with arsons on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – Detroit's arson squad is investigating two fires that broke out on the city's west side Tuesday night.

The abandoned houses caught fire near Marlowe and Grand River and Lauder and Grand River.

Firefighters asked an elderly couple living next store to one of the homes to evacuate their house.

Extra fire crews were called in from east side to assist in putting out the fires.

The investigation is ongoing.
