Artists escape from house fire in Detroit's Boston Edison neighborhood

Cause of fire still being investigated

DETROIT – Seven artists were able to escape an early-morning fire Wednesday at a home in Detroit's historic Boston Edison neighborhood.

Local 4 has learned that the artists, who are from New Orleans, were staying in the home off Longfellow Street as part of a project.

They were able to get out of the house safely around 4 a.m. when the smoke and flames broke out.

The home is a complete loss.

Fire officials on the scene said the cause is still being investigated.

The home's owner is out of town. It wasn't immediately known if the home had insurance.
