Blight Task Force inaugural meeting Wednesday

Will meet to determine how to deal with Detroit blight

The city of Detroit is the first to see Michigan's newest plan for ridding the state of blight.

DETROIT - A federally appointed task force will meet for the first time on Wednesday. Their goal is to figure out how to deal with Detroit's blight problem.

The city has 78,000 abandoned structures.

The Blight Task Force's has three members, including, Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert.

Together, the three members will decide how often to meet, whether the meetings will be open to the public and how to tackle the city's blight problem.
