DETROIT – The City of Detroit is celebrating hydroplane racing on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming Detroit APBA Gold Cup races.
The city is celebrating the 96 year tradition of hydroplane racing on the Detroit River.

Mayor Dave Bing, Detroit Yacht Club Commodore Bryan Barlow, and Detroit River Regatta Association President Tom Bertolini were on hand at Cadillac Square Tuesday, along with three hydroplanes.
The Detroit APBA Gold Cup races will begin on July 13.
