Detroit Eastern Market alive with color, sound for World Groove

Caribbean American celebration underway at Eastern Market

DETROIT – Detroit Eastern Market is alive with color and sound on Sunday during a Caribbean American celebration.

World Groove kicked off at noon with a free parade and runs until midnight. The event will feature a cultural explosion of Caribbean music, cuisine and festivities as well as performing artist.

Parade participants in colorful and striking costumes, representing the various islands of the Caribbean, danced to the sound of Calypso, Soca, Reggae, African, Haitian, Latin and Steelband music.

Tickets are $10 per person or $25 per family and can be purchased online at the Detroit Eastern Market website, at the Friends of the Detroit Eastern Market booth in Shed 2 or at the Easter Market administration offices located at 2934 Russell.
