Detroit gas station video under review in deadly shooting case

24-year-old Michael Haynes killed Saturday, gas station clerk in custody

DETROIT – Family members of 24-year-old Michael Haynes II are devastated over his death.  Friends of Haynes tell Local 4 the incident stems from a dispute over the price of a box of condoms.

Haynes purchased the condoms from the clerk at the BP gas station.  Haynes was unhappy about the price, and asked for his money back.  After the clerk refused, Haynes became upset.

The clerk allegedly came from behind the counter, and then shot Haynes.  He later died at Sinai-Grace Hospital.

Homicide detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the gas station, and the shooting is still under investigation.  It is unclear at this point if charges will be filed.
