Detroit Lions kick off season against the Minnesota Vikings

Ford Field is sold out for the anticipated season-opener against a team rival

DETROIT - The Detroit Lions are kicking off their season today facing the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field.

The Lions finished with a record of 4-12 in 2012 after suffering an 8 game losing streak to close the season. Star receiver Calvin Johnson had a record-breaking season racking up 1,967 yards. Lion fans are also excited to see how the addition of running back Reggie Bush could improve their running game.

The Vikings are coming off a 10-6 season led by running back Adrian Peterson, who rushed 2,097 yards. Stopping Peterson could be the key to the Lions breaking a two-game losing streak against the Vikings.

Sunday's game starts at 1pm in Detroit. Ford Field is sold out.
