Detroit man accused of opening fire on car

Incident happened Friday night in Kimball Township off Interstate 94

DETROIT – A Detroit man is accused of firing shots at a car Friday night after following it off I-94 in Kimball Township. 

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office said two drivers reported having the 60-year-old point a gun at them as they passed him on I-94 near Smiths Creek Road.

One of the drivers continue to drive on, but the other got off on Range Road. 

The 60-year-old allegedly followed that car off onto Range Road and started firing out his window. 

The victim called 911 and authorities arrested the 60-year-old when he turned into a nearby Meijer store. 

The suspect is being held on charges of attempted murder, discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license. 

Additional charges of drunk driving and possession a firearm while intoxicated are pending the results of toxicology tests. 

His name is being withheld until he's arraigned.
