The man who confessed to shooting his wife to death in March was sentenced Tuesday to 18 to 40 years in prison on the charge of second degree murder.

Anthony Eugene Stanford, 46, also received an additional two years for a felony firearms charge.

Police said Stanford walked into a precinct in March to turn himself in after his wife was found dead in their home on Bedford Street near Windsor. He told police he shot his wife, 36-year-old Lori, multiple times overnight killing her.

The couple's three children, ages 9 to 15, were home at the time of the shooting but didn't witness it, police said.
