Detroit mayor to announce new transit CEO

Maryland bus executive Ron Freeland named new DDOT CEO

DETROIT – Detroit Mayor Dave Bing will announce the appointment of Detroit Department of Transit CEO Ron Freeland and debut new buses at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Freeland has served as an executive and board chair of various bus, ports and rail systems in Maryland and Virginia.

The buses to be debuted Wednesday will join DDOT's newest fleet of 46 buses.

The city said drivers are being trained to drive the new buses which will join the service in the next several weeks.
