Detroit police give all clear after suspicious device found near Campus Martius

Police blocked off side street near Congress, Cadillac Square in downtown Detroit

DETROIT – Detroit police and firefighters gathered near Congress and Randolph in downtown Detroit after a suspicious device was found Thursday.

The all clear was given just after 4: 15 p.m.. Witnesses said Cadillac Square and Congress was blocked off while police investigated.

The bomb squad was on scene near Cadillac Square. An evacuation of the area was not issued.

There is no word as to what the device actually was, but no threat was discovered.

Earlier Thursday a suspicious bag that was found outside the McNamara Federal Building in Detroit. In this case the bag was discovered to only contain clothes and papers.
