DETROIT - Detroit police are asking for the public's assistance in the search for a man wanted for several armed robberies at auto parts stores in the city.

Police say the man has robbed Auto Zone and O'Reilly's Auto Parts stores.

He is described as black, about 50 years old. He has a light complexion, missing teeth and was seen wearing a gray jump suit and black baseball hat.

Police say he fled the stores in a variety of vehicles including a gray pickup truck, black Chevrolet Silverado extended cab, a blue 1998 Buick Century, a gray newer model compact car and a gray 1994 Honda Accord.

Due to the variety of vehicles, police believe the man is a local mechanic who has used customers' vehicles for his getaways.
