Dog found walking near Patton Park in SW Detroit; now in critical condition at Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Ann Arbor

DETROIT – A dog was found partially skinned alive and stabbed Thursday afternoon in southwest Detroit and is now in critical condition at Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Ann Arbor.

The Fox Terrier, named Patty, was found walking near Patton Park with a large piece of fur hanging off her bloody neck. Skin is missing from her ears and the back of her neck.

She also was stabbed twice. Joanne Dixon, of Providing for Paws, says this was absolutely no accident. Someone intentionally skinned and stabbed her. Dixon says this is the worst case of abuse Providing for Paws has ever seen.

The photos shared with Local 4 are much too gruesome to be posted here. We are only sharing one of Patty from the front.

If Patty survives this she faces a long recovery. Doctors say they will not be able to reattach the fur.

A $1,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Dixon says donations for Patty's recovery can be made online at www.providingforpaws.org.
