U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade said Gaskin, along with other members, ran a drug trafficking operation out of the city.

The gang transported marijuana, Oxycontin, and other prescription pills to Ohio and West Virginia.

The drugs where then sold out of hotel rooms.

McQuade said members often traded pills for firearms, which they brought back to Detroit.

Gaskin used a home on the east side of the city to store his marijuana and pills before the drugs were packaged for shipment. The home on Hamburg Street also housed weapons and cash.

"Street gangs that engage in armed drug trafficking lead to violence in our neighborhoods. Dismantling this group is an important step to improving public safety on Detroit's east side," said McQuade.

Gaskin and nine other members of the gang were indicted by a federal grand jury in 2011.

Mark Davis, William Crews, Darrell Ewing, Deonte Morris, Delmerey Morris, Ashley Sallad, Pinkie Lewis, and Randi Fortner all pled guilty prior to trial.

"This drug trafficking conviction sends a strong message that these crimes will not be tolerated in our communities. As a result of the hard work and commitment by the FBI Violent Crime Task Force and our law enforcement partners our streets are safer," said Special Agent in Charge D. Foley who worked with the task force that helped bring the Hustle Boys down.

The trial is still pending for member William Beal.
