Police arrest mother, son in 12-year-old's death

Vigil held for girl killed in shooting

DETROIT – Detroit Police have arrested a mother and son in connection with the death of 12-year-old Kadejah Davis.

Family and friends gathered Wednesday night to mourn Davis, who was killed Tuesday when bullets were fired into her Detroit home, after a verbal argument took place outside.

"This was just a senseless act of violence," Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said.

A candlelight vigil was held outside the home on Ferguson Street.

Kadejah was an honor student at University Yes Academy.  She was already planning to attend Louisiana State University to play on the school's basketball team while preparing to become a doctor.

Funeral service are scheduled between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday at Peace Funeral home at 19530 W. 7 Mile Road in Detroit.
