DETROIT – There's a new push to save the world class collection of art that's housed inside of the DIA. But you won't find picket signs or crowds, this campaign to save the DIA's art from being sold is one you can log onto. Art critics from across the country are calling it "Day for Detroit".
More than 15 art-focused blogs and websites like "Art F City", "Bad at Sports" & "Two Coats of Paint" are joining forces. The plan, to draw attention to the possibility that the city-owned art could be sold to help disintegrate Detroit's bankruptcy.

Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr announced last week that representatives from Christie's auction house would be returning to appraise works at the DIA. Orr has said there are no plans to sell art, but nothing is off the table. That's why on Wednesday, these sites & blogs are relying on catchy - like "selling detroit museum art to pay civic debt is dumb" to catch your attention. They'll post pictures and articles about what *could* be lost. These lovers of art believe the more that people start thinking about what's at the DIA, the more concerned they'll be.
