DETROIT, Mich. – A man who was shot Wednesday morning during a robbery on Detroit's east side died just minutes later and a few feet from the urgent care facility he was rushed to for help.
The victim was shot in the head just before 5 a.m. in the area of Outer Drive and Conner.
He was rushed to Conner Creek Urgent Care by two women he was with in a black SUV, but died in the SUV.
Police haven't released the man's name -- only saying he's in his late 20s or early 30s.
Police sources told Local 4 investigators interviewed the women -- who told them they were coming from a casino when they were stopped at a railroad crossing on 7 Mile near Van Dyke and jumped by a robber who allegedly took their money and cell phones.
However, sources said the victim's cell phone was found on him and revealed text messages with the two women, with no mention of the casino.
Eventually, the women told police they had come to the city's east side looking for drugs.
It wasn't immediately known whether the women would be charged with anything.
