School leaders immediately alerted parents that all students and staff were safe, said Detroit Public Schools spokeswoman Jennifer Mrozowski.

The student, who made no threats to any students or staff at the school, has been taken into custody and faces expulsion.

Mrozowski said parents will be updated while the matter is investigated.
