WESTLAND, Mich. – Vergie Kudla hasn't spoken out since learning of her son's death.
She spoke with Local 4 on Friday about her 18-year-old son, Jacob Kudla, and his 17-year-old friend, Jourdan Bobbish, who were found shot to death July 27 in an abandoned Detroit lot.
They left their homes in Westland that Sunday.
"Jake said, 'OK mom, we're going, but we'll be back,'" she said. "I thank God they didn't have to suffer long."
The mother has gone from being worried, to hopeful, to feelings of despair. Saturday will bring another wave of emotions as she says goodbye to her only child.

"All I know is that I need to honor my boy and I need to do that in our church and let God take it from there," she said.
There are still no arrests in the murder case. Kudla's uncle, Richard Baxter, was the last relative to see the teens alive. He admitted to giving them marijuana and pills but said he doesn't know what happened after they left his house.
"(Richard), himself, has not only mental but medical issues," said Vergie Kudla. "And I love my brother and I know my brother would bring no harm to my child or Jourdan."
Vergie Kudla still believes the boys were carjacked. She also feels strongly about two men charged with stealing from Kudla's car.
"I knot they know something. I know," she said. "Evil cannot prevail. Evil cannot prevail."
