Man attempts to abduct 13-year-old girl in Wyandotte

WYANDOTTE, Mich. – Parents in Wyandotte are on alert after a 13-year-old girl was nearly abducted.

Police in Wyandotte said that a man driving a white work van attempted to abduct a 13-year-old girl Wednesday morning as she was on her way to school.

The teen is said to have been walking to the Circle K convenience store at 540 Goddard Rd to meet up with one of her classmates. The mother of one of the classmates drives the students to school from the convenience store each morning.

While en-route to the store, police said a white work van pulled up next to the teen on Fourth St near Bondie around 7:30 a.m.

The driver of the van tried to coax the girl into the vehicle multiple times, but she refused. The girl told police the driver then exited the vehicle.

Fearful that she was about to be abducted, the girl ran to the Circle K store, where her ride was waiting for her.

The driver of the van is described as a middle-aged white man, with an average build, brown hair, a mustache and bright blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and black boots.

Police say extra patrols will take place Thursday morning in the area where the incident took place.
