Man cut by knife during argument prompted by driving altercation in Roseville

Driving altercation on I-696 leads to physical fight

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A 48-year-old man was injured Friday during an argument sparked by a driving altercation in Roseville.

Police said two men were driving around 5:45 p.m. in the area of Mound Road and eastbound I-696 in Roseville when there was a disagreement. The drivers continued on I-696 and exited at 11 Mile Road near I-94.

Officers said the drivers started yelling at each other on the curving ramp in a case of "extreme road rage."

The 48-year-old man stopped his silver Nissan near Ridgewood and Waldorf streets along westbound 11 Mile Road between I-94 and Gratiot Avenue.

A 34-year-old Roseville man in a silver Oldsmobile also got out, and the two men started arguing. The argument turned into a physical confrontation, and the 34-year-old man pulled out a knife and cut the 48-year-old man.

"I see two dudes fighting, hitting each other and stuff like that," witness Greg Dugan said. "I look over and see them fighting. Swinging and whatever."

The 48-year-old man suffered cuts to both his arms and was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

"One dude was bleeding terribly," Dugan said. "He was gashed open."

Police found the 34-year-old man at his home and took him into custody. He is being held at the Roseville Police Department.

The knife was found at the scene.

The initial cause of the incident is still under investigation.

There were no other injuries in the incident.
