Man shot dead at Detroit bank

Man killed Monday morning at Comerica Bank near Grand River, Outer Drive

DETROIT – A 33-year-old man was shot dead Monday morning at a bank on Detroit's west side.

The man was killed at about 5 a.m. in the parking lot of a Comerica Bank branch near Grand River and Outer Drive.

He was sitting in his car near the ATMs when someone opened fire, shooting him once in the neck.

The victim may have used the ATM just before he killed. However, police are still investigating whether robbery was a motive in the killing because he was found with hundreds of dollars still in his pocket.

Police said they will review ATM and bank surveillance video.

The shooting death comes on the same day the city's new police chief, James Craig, starts.

Craig has said his first order of business will be to focus on cutting down gun crimes.
