Man uses golf club to break window, steal wallet in Monroe Township Wendy's parking lot

Suspect arrested wearing same bandanna from robbery, sheriff's office says

MONROE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man used a golf club to break the window of a car in a Monroe Township Wendy’s parking lot and steal a wallet, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

The robbery happened early Tuesday morning while the victim was sitting in his car at the fast food restaurant at 876 South Monroe Street.

The robber, who was wearing a bandanna on his face, broke out the victim’s driver’s side window and demanded the wallet, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect then fled the area, but was pulled over by a deputy, and was still wearing the bandanna on his face, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies also searched the area around the suspect’s car and found the victim’s wallet, which appeared to have been thrown out the car’s window, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect, Taylor Avery, was arraigned and is being held in the Monroe County.
