OAK PARK, Mich. - A man was hit and killed by a vehicle Friday night while walking in Oak Park.

Police said the man was walking on the sidewalk on Scotia Road, north of 9 Mile Road, when he was hit by a vehicle that jumped the curb.

The driver of the vehicle left the scene, but was located not far from the crash.

Police have two women in custody in connection with the crash. Police believe the two women were arguing in the vehicle when the driver lost control and drove off the road. It is unclear if alcohol was a factor.

A witness said he saw the vehicle speeding away from the scene with a flat tire.

Residents in the area ran outside when they heard the deadly impact.

"I just rushed out there," Jeremy Funk said. "When I walked out there, there was a car parked on my lawn that had driven across the lawn and she ran over a body."

The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital.
