Man who is already on parole arrested for break-in at Waterford auto shop

Police release surveillance pictures of thief who broke into Cooley Tire in early July, tips pour in identifying man

WATERFORD, Mich. – A man who is already on parole for his troubled criminal past has been arrested in connection with a break-in at a Waterford auto shop.

Police said Wednesday that 38-year-old Robert Daren Hale was taken into custody after pictures of surveillance video of the break-in at Cooley Tire and Auto Center were released to the public. Tips poured in identifying the man on the tape as Hale.

The shop on Cooley Lake Road was broken into on July 6. The video shows a man breaking open a cash register before getting away with cash.

Police said Hale is on parole for a breaking and entering charge and has an extensive criminal history that includes, burglary, larceny, uttering and publishing, fraud, possession of controlled substances and auto theft.
