Man's body found behind burned-out home on Detroit's east side

Police say victim was shot, covered in blanket in yard on Westphalia Street

DETROIT - The body of a man who appears to have been shot to death and then dumped behind a vacant house in Detroit was found early Thursday morning, police said.

Police said the victim was found under a blanket in the back yard of a house on Westphalia Street when firefighters arrived to put out a fire at the house.

The victim is a black male in his mid-20s, police said.

Police also said this was the second time recently the house had been on fire.
