MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. - A southeastern Michigan woman has received the mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole for throwing her 8-month-old son against a wall and killing him.

Twenty-two-year-old Delniece Williams of Harper Woods told Macomb County Circuit Judge James Biernat Jr. on Tuesday that she is "not taking full responsibility" for a crime she didn't commit. She says she isn't a monster, and the trial was unfair.

"I deserve a second chance to prove to you that I am innocent and a good parent to my kids. However, I do understand that my son passed and he will be in my heart and my mind for life," Williams said.

Authorities say Williams and her boyfriend brought her injured son George Wilburn Jr. to a hospital in October 2010. They say the baby had a broken skull and ribs and a bite mark.

On May 21, a jury in Mount Clemens convicted Williams of first-degree murder and child abuse.
