The crash happened around 8:45 a.m. after the officer pulled over a driver for speeding.

After the officer had pulled over the driver, he realized the suspect had a suspended license and placed him in the front seat of his cruiser.

That's when a taxi, which was traveling about 70 mile per hour, swerved and hit the back of the cruiser.

The officer, the suspect in his front seat, the taxi driver and the taxi driver's passenger were all hurt. The extent of their injuries have not been made available.

"He's doing fine," said Lt. Michael Shaw. "He's got some pretty god bumps and bruises, minor lacerations to his back and underneath on his legs. But other than that he is doing well."

The police officer involved in the accident has been struck 10 times in his 20 year career - the latest incident was last month.
