1 dead after Inkster police station shooting

Suspect fired shots into the police station and fled the scene, found dead at different location

INKSTER, Mich. – One person is dead after a shooting at the Inkster Police Department.

According to police, a group of people came into the lobby of the police station to report a crime at about 11:50 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11.  Minutes later, shots were fired into the police station.  At least two bullets went through two doors and then into the wall of the lobby. 

Police say the suspect followed the group of people, including children, to the police department.

No one was harmed.

The suspect fled the scene.

Garden City Police found the suspect's vehicle after conducting a search, and found the suspect dead inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound.

Michigan State Police is now investigating.
