ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - A 26-year-old woman was attacked last Friday afternoon while exercising on the stairs at Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills.

An unknown man asked for help getting back to the main road. She offered to show him how to get there.  They left the area of the steps and walked toward a wooded section of the park.

A struggle happened and the man knocked her to the ground. The woman retaliated by kicking him in the shin. He ran from  the scene. The woman was not seriously injured.

Oakland County Sheriff deputies were called to the scene. A K-9 unit search the area with negative results.

Deputies believe the attacker was trying to steal the woman's cell phone.

The suspect is described as a middle eastern male, early 20's, 5-feet 6-inches to 5-feet 7-inches tall, wearing a North Face black jacket and black pants with a white vertical stripe on each leg.

The investigation continues.
