The construction crew was doing some overnight work outside the shopping center near Kohl's when they hit the gas main.  The work was being done overnight to prevent interruption during busy shopping center hours.

Consumers Energy says the repair will take some time because in order to shut the gas off they have to pull up some concrete. The shopping center will be closed until further notice.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Westland Shopping Center is located at Wayne and Warren Roads in Westland.
