WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. - The Farmington Hills School District is a step closer to finalizing a deal to sell a closed elementary school in West Bloomfield to the Islamic Cultural Association.

The plan to sell the Eagle Elementary has generated public opposition to plans for a mosque and cultural center on the school's site.

Two residents filed suit to block the sale. A lower court ruled the residents had no standing. That decision was upheld on Friday by the Michigan Court of Appeals.

It is not clear if the ruling will be appealed.
