DIA presents 48th annual gala fundraiser

Theme this year to be "The Whole World is a Stage... the Art of Performance"

DETROIT – The Detroit Institute of Arts' (DIA) auxiliary Friends of African and African American Art (FAAAA) will present their 48th annual gala fundraiser this June 15 from 6 to 11 p.m.

This year's fundraiser Bal Africain® with special guest Danny Glover will be themed: "The Whole World is a Stage... the Art of Performance".

Danny Glover, an actor and director for four decades four decades, is also a well known and admired philanthropist and political activist.

"We are excited to welcome Danny Glover as our honored guest this year. He embodies the mission of our support of the visual and performing arts across the Diaspora, and we are so pleased that he accepted our invitation to be part of this festive celebration at the DIA," said Gail Ross, FAAAA chairperson.

The menu consists of Algerian roast chicken roti, North African smoked squash, couscous timbale with pistachios, scallions and currants, and honey and cardamom bread pudding.
