DTE Energy wraps up work on Gratiot County wind project

DTE says project can generate enough energy for over 50,000 Michigan homes

BRECKENRIDGE, Mich. – DTE Energy Co. says it's wrapped up construction and started up full commercial operations at its Gratiot County Wind Project, which includes 133 turbines.

The utility says Wednesday the project generates enough energy to power more than 50,000 Michigan homes.

DTE owns 64 of the turbines and 69 are owned by Gratiot Wind LLC. DTE has a 20-year power purchase agreement from the turbines it doesn't own.

The wind power project about 100 miles northwest of Detroit is located on about 30,000 acres of private land in Wheeler, Bethany, Emerson and Lafayette townships.
