WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A Waterford family was sent to the hospital after being attacked by their household dog.

Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Hickory Lane just after 10 p.m. on Sunday.

When they arrived, the homeowner explained that multiple family members had been bitten by the family dog. The homeowner did not know why the dog, a Brindle Pit Bull, would attack the family.

The three family members, a 62-year-old male, a 58-year-old female, and a 21-year-old female were all transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries to their arms.

Waterford Township prohibits any person to acquire, possess or maintain any Pit Bull terrier. The dog was turned over to Oakland County Animal Control.
