KEEGO HARBOR, Mich. – The impact was so loud that when neighbors on the Keego Harbor street started dialing 911 Thursday afternoon they thought it was a house explosion.
What really happened was a 60-year-old driver lost control of his car and went roaring into a house on Grove Street.
"The car was traveling at a high rate of speed, hit a snow bank, entered the home and traveled completely through, not touching the floor, and exited the rear of the structure coming to rest against a tree," said West Bloomfield fire Chief Jay Wiseman.

Somehow the three people inside the home -- a couple and their daughter -- were not hit by the car. The driver was pinned inside the vehicle but still conscious after the crash.
"According to the driver, he remembers driving down the road and for whatever reason appeared to blackout and the car was accelerating and that's the last thing he remembered," said Keego Harbor police officer Jim Cote.
Police say there was no smell of alcohol or any signs of drugs. The driver was at a hospital Thursday night getting evaluated.
While everyone involved may have come out unscathed, the house is a wreck and condemned as of Thursday night. Firefighters say the car removed the internal supports of the house.
DTE Energy has shut off power to the home and restored power to the surrounding area.
