MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. - A woman and her daughter reported a fraud to Police on Thursday after the woman was falsely informed that she had won a sweepstakes and was scammed out of $1000 dollars.

Louise Muraszewski and her daughter, Diane Brecht reported that Muraszewski received a sweepstakes letter in the mail that stated she had won $1,900,000. Muraszewski told Police she never called to claim the prize, but was contacted three times by two different men and asked to put $500 on a green dot prepaid money card for a processing fee and give the information for the cards over the phone. Muraszewski followed this process two times. The third time, Brecht would not let her put another $500 on a card. A man called back and stated that there was a hold put on the prize.

A report of fraud was subsequently made to the Madison Heights Police Department.
