Highland Park apartment building fire leaves dozens displaced

Red Cross assisting 10 families after fire destroys apartment building

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – Fire ripped through an apartment building early Friday morning on Ferris and Woodward in Highland Park.

Officials tell Local 4 News that a elderly couple was rescued from inside the building.  They were treated on the scene by emergency personnel.

Highland Park Fire Department said that 30 to 40 residents were displaced by the fire.

The American Red Cross of Southeastern Michigan responded to the scene as well.

The Red Cross tells Local 4 that they are providing food and shelter to 10 families that are affected by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
