DETROIT – An 88-year-old Ingham County woman is the 8th person to die in Michigan from a nationwide meningitis outbreak.
There have been 124 cases of the fungal meningitis illness in the state.

The outbreak has been linked to contaminated steroid shots made at the New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts.
Meanwhile, the director of the Massachusetts Pharmacy Board has been fired for ignoring a complaint about the pharmacy before it shipped the tainted shots.
