Isolated showers, clouds and sun Tuesday

Detroit highs will be in the low 70s

DETROIT – Tuesday morning will be cool with a few showers from a low pressure system over New England.  Temperatures will be in the low 50s.  There is a slight chance of isolated showers later in the day.  Not everyone will get wet, but drivers will need to watch for wet spots on the roads.  The afternoon will be milder will with highs in the low 70s with a wind from the northeast at 9 to 14 mph.  

The "transit of Venus" is an astronomical phenomenon where the planet will pass across the sun.  The event will be visible beginning at 6:04pm ET, Tuesday in Detroit and Southeast Michigan, but anyone who tries must protect their eyes by using a pinhole projection and not staring directly into the sun.  Local 4 News and JustWeather.com will have more.

Tuesday night will be partly cloudy and cool with lows in the 50s.

A gradual warm-up begins mid-week.  Wednesday and Thursday will be slightly milder with highs in the middle 70s.  Friday and Saturday will be mostly sunny and warmer with highs near 80 degrees or more.
