SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A 43-year-old man has been arraigned on charges for leading Southfield police on a chase Monday which eventually ended in a crash on Detroit's northwest side.

Alven Sharp is charged with fleeing and eluding and receiving and concealing a motor vehicle. Police say the chase began after Sharp's mother reported her car stolen. Police found Sharp with the car and tried to stop him but he fled.

A Southfield police cruiser pinned his car against a tree after he crashed it. He was injured in the crash and was treated at a nearby hospital.
Sharp is being held in jail on a $35,000 bond. His next court date is June 27.
