Man followed, attacked with knife in Ferndale

20-year-old victim assaulted at Mobile gas station on Woodward Avenue, Ardmore Drive

FERNDALE, Mich. – Police are searching for the suspect who tried to rob a man at knife point in Ferndale.

The 20-year-old victim was assaulted as he walked to a Mobile gas station on Woodward Avenue and Ardmore Drive, just after 1 a.m. Friday.

The victim says he first noticed the suspect walking in front of him after getting off the bus at State Fair.

The suspect spun around, pulled out a knife, and asked the victim if he was trying to rob him.

The victim says he tried to ignore the man and continued walking, but the suspect followed him and pulled his knife back out.

The victim ran into the gas station's store for protection and the clerk called the police. The incident was caught on tape.

Kyle Squire was the only working in the store when the victim and the suspect came into the store.

"You work at a gas station and some weird things come through the door, but this has definitely been the most bizarre by far," said Squire.

The suspect is described as a white man with light brown hair and had a beard and mustache.

"We're afraid we've got some nut out there with a knife that we'd like to identify him and make an arrest," said Lt. William Wilson.

Ferndale Police ask is anybody can identify the suspect to notify them at 248-541-3650.
