Man shot, killed outside Harper Woods restaurant

Surveillance video shows gunman stealing victim's Camaro

HARPER WOODS, Mich. – On any other Saturday morning, the Royal Grill restaurant in Harper Woods would be packed with customers.

But for now, it's closed.

Its owner, 31-year-old Altin Avdyli, was gunned down Friday night in the back parking lot off Kelly Road – and it was all caught on tape.

Local 4 obtained the video, which is from a nearby business.

The video shows Avdyli walking to his car and also another person apparently hiding behind a dumpster enclosure.

The video shows the man by the dumpster run out and confront Avdyli. A short scuffle ensues and Avdyli is shot.

Seconds later, the gunman drives off with the Avdyli's car, running over his body in the process.

Police are trying to find the Avdyli's car: a gray 2010 Chevy Camaro with black stripes. The license plate is CFZ-9555.

Lakisha Dent works nearby and said she was shocked to hear such a violent crime hit so close to her.

"It's actually devastating because I don't understand what could've been. I don't have a clue," she said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Harper Woods Police Department at 313-343-2530.
