WASHINGTON - The state of Michigan could become the home of a new missile defense site.

According to the United States Department of Defense, Environmental Impact Statements will be completed on several locations for a possible missile defense site.

Fort Custer, Mich., joins Camp Ravenna, Ohio, Fort Drum, N.Y., and Portsmouth SERE Training Area in Maine as potential locations.

Fort Custer is located near Battle Creek.

The study will examine the potential impact to land use, water resources, air quality and other factors.

The Defense Departments says it will take at least 24 months to conduct and complete the EIS.
