Warning due to E. coli, officials say no swimming at Luna Pier beach

MONROE, Mich. - Monroe County Health Department has issued an advisory against swimming at the public bathing beach at Luna Pier City Beach.

The July 9 Luna Pier City Beach surface water sample results showed levels of Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacterial contamination that exceeded what is considered acceptable.

Monroe County Health Department personnel will re-sample the water at this beach Thursday, July 11.

However, beach-goers should stay out of the water until notified it is safe.
