INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Oakland County Sheriff's Department reports a 20-year-old man was carjacked after returning his date home around 9:30 p.m. Friday night in Independence Township.

The carjacking happened at the Bridgewater Apartment Complex in the 5800 block of North Marshbank.

The Springfield Township resident told deputies that he left his 2009 Jeep Patriot running for just a moment as he walked his date to her door.

The 20-year-old said a man and woman jumped in his Jeep. He and a friend grabbed the passenger door and the rear bumper to prevent them from leaving.

The male carjacker told them he had a gun. The 20-year-old and his friend held onto the vehicle as they were dragged several feet before letting go.

They were not injured. The owner of the Jeep told deputies that he did not know the carjackers.

The driver is described as a 25-year-old white male with short brown hair wearing a black hoodie.

His passenger was a heavy-set white female, approximately 25-years-old, with blonde hair in a ponytail.
