Newborn dies; Mom may have fallen asleep on infant

Headline Goes Here

PONTIAC, Mich. - A four-week-old baby has died in Pontiac after the infant's mom may have fallen asleep Sunday after drinking, that's according to the Oakland County Sheriff's department.

Paramedics were called to the home on Leonard Lane for an unresponsive infant.  They quickly started CPR and then transported the baby to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where it was pronounced dead.

The baby's mom had custody, but the mother stopped by the grandmother's house to visit.  Police believe the mom may have fallen asleep on top of the baby while they sat on the couch.

An autopsy on the newborn is pending.

Child protective services had removed her three other children from the home previously.  They are ages 5, 7 and 8.
