Roscoe Wayne Harden faces numerous charges after Sheriff's deputies say he beat and stabbed his wife and tried to set the couple's Ortonville home on fire.

BRANDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - An Ortonville man is accused of beating and stabbing his wife and trying to set the couple's house on fire.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says Roscoe Harden, 35, punched his 39-year-old wife several times Thursday before stabbing her with a small knife. Meanwhile, Harden had tried to set the couple's home on fire by lighting garbage and carpet in the master bedroom, police say.

Deputies rushed to the home after the woman's step-daughter called 911 to report the mayhem. She told the dispatcher her mother had been stabbed by her father and that he was trying to start a fire in the home.

Deputies found Harden in the living with a bloodied right hand. Deputies helped the woman and her two children (ages 4 and 5) outside of the home to safety.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Harden put up a fight with deputies. They were forced to use a Taser on him multiple times before he could be taken into custody.

Brandon Township firefighters treated Harden and the victim for injuries at the home. The woman refused to be taken to a hospital. She was released at the home with non-life-threatening injuries.

Harden faces charges including arson, assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting police. He was arraigned Friday at the 52nd District Court. His bond has been set at $50,000. He is not allowed to have contact with his wife or children and cannot return to the home.

He remains lodged at the Oakland County Jail. His next court date has not been set. He will go in front of Judge Kostin.
