Police say a wrong-way driver suspected of drinking hit 2 cars in Bloomfield Hills

20-year-old Rochester Hills driver collides with 2 cars after going wrong direction on Woodward Avenue

BLOOMFIELD Hills, Mich. – Police say a wrong-way driver suspected of drinking and driving was responsible for a three car crash in Bloomfield Hills.

A 20-year-old Rochester Hills man was travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of Woodward Avenue north of Lone Pine Road, just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say he sideswiped one vehicle then struck another car head-on. 

The suspect and one driver were transported to the hospital with injuries.

The other driver was treated at the scene.

None of the injuries were life threatening. 

The road remained closed for over an hour during the investigation.

Police suspect the man was driving under the influence of alcohol.

They say he has a operating while intoxicated (OWI) charge pending with another police department.

Bloomfield Hills Public Safety says a search warrant for evidence was issued in this case.

The man's name was not released pending charges.
